The following non-affliated groups are eligible for a Visitor library card: TexShare Card holders, Dallas teachers, Dallas City officials, and Faculty participating in the OCLC Reciprocal Borrowing program. Visitors can also check out books with a Friends of the SMU Libraries membership.
The TexShare Card Program allows library users from participating TexShare institutions to have limited library borrowing privileges at SMU:
- First, you must request your TexShare card from your home institution.
- Next, come to Fondren Library with your TexShare card to receive privileges at SMU.
and for more about the program in general, please go to TexShare website.
For more information about a Friends of the SMU Libraries membership, please visit the Friends of the SMU Libraries website.
SMU Alumni Cards may be obtained online or in person at Fondren Library. Friends of the Library cards may be obtained online or in person at Fondren Library. All other guest cards must be obtained in person at the Main Desk. For more specific information about privileges at SMU’s Central University Libraries, consult our visitor policy page.
